In their words
andblack design studio approaches buildings, interiors and objects through an experimental design process, developing each project around its brief, materials and setting.
Founded in Ahmedabad in 2011, the studio works across residential, institutional and educational buildings as well as interiors, furniture and temporary structures. Its approach brings digital methods and physical making together, testing ideas through models, material studies and detailed design.
Surat National Bank shows how that process translates into a public building. Exposed concrete, recessed glazing and a sequence of terraces give the bank a recognisable presence in its industrial neighbourhood while organising customer access, staff workspaces and shared outdoor areas.
