In their words
ABC Architecture develops buildings in relation to the people, landscapes and neighbourhoods around them, treating architecture, interiors and landscape as connected parts of the work.
Founded in 2010 by Mark Ritchie and Brian Cavanaugh, the practice draws on an international background and the architectural traditions of the Pacific Northwest. Its portfolio includes housing, cultural and civic buildings, educational projects, commercial work and hospitality.
At Stubbs Residence in Seattle, an addition and renovation create a new relationship between a 1905 house, its garden and the street. Cedar screening, an operable glazed wall and a roof terrace show the practice’s attention to the boundary between a building and its surroundings.
