In their words
Designing a home starts with how you want to live.
DeForest Architects works from studios in Seattle and Lake Tahoe. Its portfolio includes homes in the city, rural retreats, renovations and public and commercial projects.
The practice begins by exploring clients’ experiences, priorities and ideas. Exercises, workshops and an ongoing conversation help turn those starting points into a brief and a design direction.
Physical models, material studies, mock-ups and virtual walkthroughs make proposals easier to understand and discuss. The studio describes contractors and consultants as part of that process, contributing through design and construction.
Boomerang House brings this approach to a lakefront home planned around making art, gathering with family and moving between indoor rooms and the landscape.
