The living space opens towards a wide garden-facing window. · A galley kitchen combines fitted cabinetry, appliances and a tiled splashback. · A shower without a raised threshold forms part of the compact bathroom.

In their words
Making room for another way of living
Inspired ADUs is an Oakland-based architecture and design firm serving California homeowners. Led by architect Carrie Shores Diller, the team works on accessory dwelling units: small homes that share a property with a main residence.
Its current services include custom and pre-designed plans, permitting, interiors and construction administration, alongside panelised and modular options. The practice also considers how a compact home can accommodate changing mobility and living needs.
Tranquil Retreat demonstrates that approach at 414 square feet. A one-bedroom layout brings living space, a galley kitchen and a bathroom together beneath a sloping roof, with high-level windows helping to maintain light and privacy.
