The project

The new space complements the historic shop. The guiding principle was that tradition should stay intact, visible and dominant, revealing the ritual of production and service and the visual language generations recognise.

The intervention is deliberately restrained. Better circulation, comfort and lighting, and robust materials chosen to age well, support the visitor experience without losing the character of the place.

Arched timber openings in sequence.
Arcades of timber and blue tile.
