Projects / Built project
A forest-covered sports centre is embedded into Hangzhou's Asian Games Eco-Park, combining competition facilities with a long-term community programme.
The story
Archi-Tectonics shaped the 23,000 m² fitness centre as an extension of the park's rolling terrain. The building sits beneath a planted roof, with four-storey glazed facades and skylights bringing daylight, ventilation and views into its pools, courts and fitness spaces.
The project was planned to move from international competition to everyday civic use after the Games. Excavated soil formed the surrounding hills, vehicles are routed beneath the landscape and the 14,400 m² green roof contributes stormwater management, shade and habitat while keeping pedestrian routes continuous across the site.
