Projects / Project
A proposed city-centre vision links eight development sites with homes, workplaces, culture, public space and active-travel routes.
The story
Gensler's vision responds to the changing role of Birmingham's retail core by bringing housing, employment and cultural activity into a more varied central neighbourhood. Eight key sites are connected through green routes and public spaces rather than treated as separate development parcels.
The proposal covers four hectares of regenerated land near the future HS2 Curzon Street station. It sets out capacity for up to 5,000 homes, 8,000 jobs and more than 400,000 m² of commercial space while retaining its status as a long-term vision rather than a completed project.
