Hotel Number One
SIKORA Creative Architecture · Gdańsk, Poland · 2019
Projects / Project
Jan Sikora has designed a 100 square metre apartment on Gdańsk’s Granary Island that blends the city’s heritage with the lightness of a seaside resort.
The living room beneath salvaged timber beams.
The project
The starting question was how Gdańsk’s historic style might meet the character of a modern sea resort. Red brick, old oak and heavy, detailed furniture are set against sky-blue tones taken from seaside architecture.
Industrial touches recall the cranes of the Gdańsk docks seen from the windows, and the timber beams across the ceiling were salvaged from one of the city’s old tenement houses.

The kitchen with its brick arches.

A round dining table.

A bedroom in blue panelling.

The bedroom behind steel and glass.

The dining area and glazed bedroom.
