The story

The story behind the work.

Willmott Dixon Interiors delivered the CAT B refurbishment of a Grade II listed government building in Westminster while the workplace remained operational. Staff were moved between floors so the programme could continue without closing the building.

Nearly 70,000 square feet was reorganised for hybrid work with open-plan areas, hot-desking, breakout spaces and conferencing facilities. Sensory rooms, acoustic improvements, new lighting and a restrained material palette support accessibility and wellbeing.

Plant and infrastructure upgrades were intended to reduce energy use, while the contractor also reports education and environmental work in the surrounding community. Arcadis is identified as architect and project manager, with BDP as structural engineer, so the record does not attribute original architectural authorship to Willmott Dixon Interiors.
