Grade II Listed Government Building
Willmott Dixon Interiors · Westminster, London, United Kingdom
Projects / Project
Preconstruction and design-development work for the future refurbishment of London Fire Brigade's Grade II listed former headquarters.
The story
London Fire Brigade plans to bring its 1937 headquarters at 8 Albert Embankment back into use. Willmott Dixon Interiors is appointed for preconstruction services and to finalise Stage 3 and 4 design for the Grade II listed building's refurbishment.
The proposed scope renews mechanical, electrical, public-health and life-safety systems, windows, roofs and the cladding of the later control-room extension. Internal work would add lifts, partitions, ceilings, joinery and finishes, refurbish appliance bays and create a public events and exhibition space.
The official case study says construction is expected to begin in mid-2027 and anticipates space for about 840 staff. It is therefore presented as planned fit-out and refurbishment work, not as a completed project. Empty numerical placeholders on the source page are deliberately excluded.
