The story
The story behind the work.
Inspired by the history of the Lace Market in Nottingham, this project looks at creating a new cycle in the textile industry. The lace industry made Nottingham a global trading centre with the development of canals and railways- the challenge is to keep alive the heritage of the city, while promoting a more sustainable future.
This project focuses on building a community around transforming the textile industry in Nottingham. As part of the aim to reduce waste in the textile industry, 52% of the design is made from bricks of the existing buildings on site, with the remaining bricks being sources locally.
