A precise brief
Lightbox brings diamond manufacturing, offices and visitor spaces together in a two-storey, 60,000 sq ft facility in Gresham, Oregon. SNHA designed the building around the technical conditions required to produce gem-quality laboratory-grown diamonds.

A building with a clear identity
White metal panels, fritted glass and angular façades give the facility a clear identity. At night, illuminated glazing makes the relationship between the building and its name particularly visible.

Connected, with clear boundaries
The ground floor places reception, a lounge and a product gallery alongside a manufacturing floor with separate staff access. Above, offices and meeting rooms overlook the double-height synthesis hall. The arrangement connects the different uses while maintaining security and privacy.

Room to grow
A central command centre oversees operations, supported by complex environmental systems. The design and construction were phased to accommodate future expansion, giving the facility a practical route to grow.
