The story
The story behind the work.
Common Ground Workshop added a second floor and side extension to a former storage building in Camberwell. First conceived as a live-work setting for the Lloyd Eist Foundation, the scheme was adapted into a detached family home on a compact urban site.
Reclaimed timber and brick, locally made sapele windows and doors, Valchromat linings and quartz worktops shape the interior. An air-source heat pump, internal wall insulation and reuse of the original floor timbers improve energy performance while retaining traces of the building's earlier fabric.
