The story
The story behind the work.
Common Ground Workshop reconfigured a double-height unit at the entrance to London City Island into a venue that moves between daytime work and evening hospitality. The programme combines a cafe, cocktail bar, restaurant, co-working space and community lounge.
Stained timber, terrazzo and ceramic tile sit against the existing raw concrete shell, while exposed services and contemporary lighting retain an industrial character. Outside, a renewed riverside terrace strengthens the venue's public relationship with the River Lea.
