The project
Schoenenkwartier is the Dutch museum of shoes and the leather industry. The exhibition introduces cuir bouilli, a centuries-old French technique that turns soft leather into a dark, rigid and waterproof material.
At its heart is a catwalk-like run of lilac plinths and platforms of different sizes. Rather than following a timeline, it mixes objects from across the ages under three themes, craft, design and fashion, with minimal labelling so visitors can lose themselves among the pieces.

Plinths run the length of the gallery.
