The story
The story behind the work.
Randolph House is a two-storey addition to an attached Victorian cottage on a corner block in Hawthorn, Melbourne. Working within challenging heritage requirements on a small block, Bryant Alsop reshaped the home to maximise space and light for a young family. The result is an airy, light-filled interior that engages with the outdoor areas and gives generously to the urban landscape. Bricks found on site were cleaned and reused, lending the new addition a patina and softness that connects it to the original cottage. Completed in 2018, the home spans 138 square metres across two levels.
