The story

The story behind the work.

Quadrant Estates and Oaktree acquired YY London through a joint venture and repositioned the Canary Wharf office as a larger, more public-facing workplace. The business plan targeted high-quality occupiers, stronger design and sustainability credentials.

The development replaced the facade, filled the atrium, relocated the cores and added four levels. These changes created about 100,000 square feet of additional net internal area within a total of 414,000 square feet, while a reworked ground floor formed a new entrance connected to the public plaza.

Planning permission was granted in November 2020 and Quadrant's official case study records practical completion in the fourth quarter of 2023. This record describes Quadrant's verified investor and developer role and does not attribute personal design authorship to Aqeel Sourjah.
