Keep architectural design intent intact through construction on a major commercial development in Dubai. This on-site role suits a Senior Design Manager who is comfortable resolving technical decisions with contractors, consultants and client teams.
About the practice
An international architecture and engineering consultancy working on complex developments is looking for an experienced architecture professional to represent its design team during construction.
What you will work on
- Review shop drawings, technical details, materials, finishes and mock-ups against the approved design.
- Resolve design and coordination issues, and assess value-engineering proposals without losing architectural quality.
- Inspect work on site and monitor compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with the client, contractor, project management and supervision consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Support local authority coordination and the project's sustainability objectives, and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
What you will bring
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, with at least 15 years of architectural experience. More than 20 years is preferred.
- Significant construction-phase experience on major commercial, headquarters or mixed-use developments.
- Strong knowledge of detailing, materials, finishes and construction methods, with experience protecting design intent during delivery.
- UAE project experience and knowledge of local authority approvals, together with strong stakeholder management, negotiation and decision-making skills.
- Professional registration or equivalent accreditation is desirable. International project experience and exposure to LEED-accredited developments are advantageous.
Working in Dubai
The role is on-site in Dubai, with a six-day week when required. UAE-based candidates are preferred, although relocation will be considered. Immediate availability or a notice period of one month or less is highly desirable.
