A growing specialist facade contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Designer to join its expanding team. Working across commercial, residential, healthcare, education and mixed-use projects throughout London and the South East, this role offers the opportunity to lead technically challenging projects while helping shape the future of a growing Design Department.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with excellent coordination skills and a proactive approach to project delivery. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to take on greater responsibility, mentor junior team members and continue progressing towards a technical leadership position.

The Role

Working closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Production and Site teams, you'll take ownership of facade packages from design development through to construction. The role combines technical delivery, client coordination and project leadership, offering broad exposure across all aspects of facade design and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of multiple facade projects through design and construction.
• Produce and coordinate complete design packages including elevations, sections, fabrication and installation drawings.
• Develop practical and buildable solutions for curtain walling, glazing, windows and door systems.
• Resolve complex interface details including structural support, waterproofing, thermal performance and movement accommodation.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants, structural engineers, contractors and suppliers.
• Attend design meetings, workshops, surveys and site visits.
• Prepare technical specifications, schedules and supporting documentation.
• Mentor junior team members and help develop technical standards across the department.

Requirements

• Minimum five years' experience within facade, curtain walling or architectural glazing design.
• Strong technical understanding of aluminium glazing systems, interfaces and construction detailing.
• Experience coordinating design information with architects, consultants and contractors.
• Strong AutoCAD skills with a portfolio of works to present.
• Good understanding of facade construction, structural coordination and buildability.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Full right to work in the UK.

Desirable Experience

• Experience using Logikal or similar facade software.
• Knowledge of Schüco, Reynaers, Technal, Senior Architectural Systems or equivalent products.
• Architectural, Architectural Technology or Engineering qualification.
• Understanding of BIM workflows.
• Knowledge of the Building Safety Act, CDM Regulations and Golden Thread principles.
• Previous mentoring experience.
