About

About NIKJOO.

NIKJOO is a London-based architecture practice and interior consultancy, founded in 2017 by architect Alex Nikjoo. The studio designs adaptable spaces that flex with the demands of everyday living, working across private homes, infill and new-build housing, retrofit and conversion, retail, commercial and cultural projects.

The practice is known for turning overlooked or constrained sites into characterful, sustainable buildings. Its early work included the conversion of a disused chapel in Deptford into an artist's home, studio and gallery, a project that launched the studio and was widely published. Since then NIKJOO has worked on infill homes built on small, disused urban plots, a new-build farmhouse in the Oxfordshire green belt, the Lode family home in Stoke Newington, and Peckham Palais, a cultural venue created through the retrofit of the historic Jones and Higgins department store.

Sustainability, craftsmanship and longevity run through the studio's approach. NIKJOO designs buildings intended to adapt and endure over their lifetimes, using modern methods of construction and a careful reading of each site. The practice's work has featured in Dezeen, the Architects' Journal, Wallpaper*, Metro and the Evening Standard.
