The story

The story behind the work.

Alder Hey Children's Health Park brings a 270-bed hospital into Liverpool parkland. Three clinical wings reach into gardens, while curved green roofs, balconies and a naturally lit atrium give patients, families and staff direct connections to landscape.

BDP delivered architecture, landscape architecture and interior design for the £237m hospital, which completed in 2015. Children and young people contributed to the design process, helping shape a therapeutic setting that uses colour, art and outdoor space as part of care. The credit remains at practice level only.
