A 3,500 sq m glulam marketplace that gives Stockholm Arlanda's Terminal 5 a new social and commercial heart.
The story
Verandan extends Terminal 5 at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with cafés, restaurants, shops and a wider passenger route. An exposed glulam structure, including beams up to 18 metres long, creates a light and welcoming airport hall with a strong Nordic material character.
White and Swedavia developed the project around material efficiency. Existing façade glass was explored for reuse, steel was reduced, natural stone floors were retained and polished, and lower-impact concrete was specified. The project completed in 2024 with Skanska as contractor.
