The story

The story behind the work.

Gascoigne West Phase 1 provides 201 homes across three blocks and seven terraced houses in Barking. Sixty per cent are affordable, while public squares, local greens, semi-private gardens and private courtyards build a clear sequence of shared and domestic space.

The landscape-led design uses sustainable drainage, green roofs, gardens, photovoltaic panels and a high-performance envelope to respond to heat, water and energy. White records the completed 2022 project as targeting a 40.2% carbon reduction beyond Building Regulations.
