Projects / Project
A fully affordable mixed-use scheme centred on 62 almshouses for older Southwark residents facing hardship.
The story
Blackfriars Almshouses reworks the traditional low-rise courtyard model into a 15-storey community for older residents. The consented scheme combines 62 affordable homes with community space, flexible workspace and a 950 sq m public garden.
Fathom led planning architecture and shaped the terracotta tower around ageing and dementia-friendly principles. The official page states that EPR is delivery architect post-planning and MRG Studio is landscape architect, so those roles remain distinct while the scheme is delivered.
