The story

The story behind the work.

The Cooee Retrofit tests how a conventional three-bedroom brick-veneer house can become more comfortable and efficient without a large extension or wholesale rebuild.

Draft sealing, pumped wall insulation, repaired ceiling insulation, ceiling fans, close-fitting blinds and an electric heat-pump water system lifted the all-electric home's EER from 2.9 to 5.7 stars. The practice reports roughly 60 per cent lower heating and cooling demand from an investment of around A$9,000.
