Her thesis project, Crossing the Waterscape, explores the possibility of ‘blue’ public spaces – expanding the familiar concept of green spaces for the coastal city of Tangier, Morocco, with a prominent tourism industry owing to its proximity to Spain.

The brief
The project is situated on an empty concrete platform, artificially formed for a high-end marina development and located beneath the tourist-focused Port de Tanger Ville. Now, a large canopy traverses the site, sheltering various water-related commercial and leisure programmes, also embedding the site with rainwater treatment systems – a public oasis designed to mitigate the city’s crisis with water supply.
The project proposes to transform this once uninhabited space into a meeting point for the tourists and the residents of Tangier through the common theme of water.
