The project

Working with what is there

For DF Capital, Ruumi Studio brings a contemporary workplace into a listed building. The practice approaches the project as a new layer within an existing setting, allowing the intervention to have its own identity without imitating the original.

Stepped timber seating and meeting space beneath the existing concrete structure

A place to arrive

The reception combines a green-fronted desk, timber detailing and a sculptural loop of light. Behind it, the exposed concrete structure and services remain part of the character of the interior.

Different places to work and meet

A stepped timber seating area gives the workplace a place to gather. Elsewhere, green upholstered seating, planted edges and enclosed meeting rooms offer different settings within the open floor.

Shared tables and smaller seating groups sit alongside the day-to-day workspace. The photographs show how colour, furniture and material changes define these areas while retaining a visible connection to the building around them.
