The story
The story behind the work.
Petrel Avenue is a residential duplex on a constrained site at Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast, conceived as a high-end interpretation of a coastal aesthetic. Lightweight cladding and subtly different forms give each villa its own identity while the pair share a single overall architectural language.
Each villa runs to 220 square metres over two levels, with three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a natural stone kitchen and a private pool. Set against subtropical landscaping, the project pushes the standard for designer-driven coastal housing in the area. Completed in 2019.
Design by Studio Workshop (Chris Knapp and Rory Spence). Photography by Andy MacPherson.
