The story
The story behind the work.
Archi-Tectonics drew on The Bund's maritime and Art Deco setting for the 255 m² interior. Timber recovered from a demolished historic Chinese house was CNC-milled into a continuous ship-hull-inspired structure, giving old material a precise new role.
The timber system integrates HVAC, lighting and sound rather than acting as furniture alone. Rough reclaimed surfaces contrast with smooth white volumes and concealed LEDs, while suspended mannequins move in response to visitors to make the retail environment more dynamic.
