The story

The story behind the work.

Savarin is a proposed regeneration of a 1.7-hectare site between four central Prague streets. Heatherwick Studio's plan for developer Crestyl combines shops, workplaces, heritage buildings and public gardens rather than enclosing them inside a conventional shopping centre.

New passages and courtyards would reconnect the district and restore public access to an 18th-century riding hall. Three new buildings are stepped back around the hall, with green terraces and stairways continuing to rooftop public spaces and city views.

The official studio page records a 2018 appointment and an expected completion date of 2029. Those dates describe the current proposal and must be re-reviewed if the project is updated.
