Leilou Walmsley’s project is the Sustainabowl Japanese food pavilion. This project was created during her first year of the Bachelors course.

The brief

The question behind the work.

The main structure is made from a Japanese construction technique called Miyadaiku where no glue, nails or screws are used. This technique along with wattle and daub wall infill and an aluminium roof, means that the building is entirely biodegradable or recyclable.

The pavilion's purpose is to serve a Japanese curry dish, so its design and construction technique try to reflect Japanese architecture in a contemporary and simple way.
