The brief
The question behind the work.
'The Market of Joy' is Shefa's final year thesis where she reimagines Oxford’s Covered Market as an anti-brand spectacle - a high-tech, mixed-use intervention that disrupts consumer habits and resists digital saturation. Instead of encouraging passive consumption, the space provokes playful, critical engagement, transforming the market into a living act of resistance against algorithm-driven culture and corporate control. The project fixates on surface treatment to amplify hidden systems - symbolizing the market’s rebellious, lost voice and fractured identity.
