Voysey House

Voysey House was designed in 1902 as a purpose-built factory for Sanderson. Later office conversions and piecemeal changes had weakened its character, facade and internal coherence when Dorrington commissioned dMFK to prepare the Grade II* building for a new period of use.

The project restores the white glazed brick and Portland stone facade, repairs existing materials and reinstates details drawn from Voysey's Arts and Crafts palette. Ultra-thin double glazing in replica steel frames improves performance while preserving the building's appearance, and reconfigured floors create more flexible workspace and a new Sanderson showroom.

The 19,440 sq ft retrofit combines conservation with reuse and circularity, including salvaged timber and brick. Historic England described the result as a subtle transformation that demonstrates the continuing value of historic places.
