Projects / Project
Gregory Phillips Architects has transformed a traditional-style Surrey house with two glazed single-storey wings and a new pool garden.
The glazed pavilion wings wrap the landscaped garden.
The project
Cobham House is a modern house of traditional appearance on a private road in Surrey. Its large garden was poorly connected to the house, so Gregory Phillips Architects added a pavilion running perpendicular to it for the kitchen and informal living and dining spaces, and reconfigured the garden with a new swimming pool.
In a second phase, a garage wing became a home office and gym, linked to the main house by a glazed gallery walkway through the garden. A new three-storey timber stair opens the entrance hall through to the rear, bringing light into the house.

The wings glow at dusk across the garden.

A glazed walkway links the house with the studio wing.

A timber staircase rises from the new entrance hall.

A dining room opens onto the pool terrace.
