The story
The story behind the work.
St Saviour's Church was built in 1863–64 to designs by Thomas Cundy junior and forms a prominent focus in Thomas Cubitt's plan for the Duke of Westminster's estate. Its 52-metre tower and spire, later interior decoration and early twentieth-century rood screen make the church a significant part of Pimlico's historic townscape.
Le Lay Architects has advised on maintenance, repair and reordering through its Quinquennial Inspector appointment. The work includes supporting faculty and grant applications and raising awareness of the rediscovered polychromatic Welsh slate design, helping the congregation care for the Grade II listed fabric.
