The story
The story behind the work.
KPF designed The Otemachi Tower as a mixed-use hub between the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station. The building brings together the Mizuho Bank headquarters, Aman Tokyo and a retail concourse above five subway lines.
At ground level, the concourse connects to Otemachi no mori, a public park that shapes the experience and material language of the lower floors. Deep horizontal and vertical recesses express the building's stacked programme and frame views from the palace and station.
