Facade Specialist | Curtain Walling & Architectural Glazing | Croydon
Up to £55,000 + Hybrid Working, Negotiable Benefits Package, Clear Path to Technical Leadership
Tired of being the person who just produces the drawings? This role puts you in charge of the design. You'll own facade packages from design development right through to site, help build a growing design department and take a real step towards technical leadership. If you're available immediately or on a short notice period, get in touch today. Interviews are happening now and the team is ready to move quickly.
Our client is a growing specialist facade contractor based in Croydon. They deliver curtain walling, glazing, windows and door systems across commercial, residential, healthcare, education and mixed-use projects throughout London and the South East. The business is investing in its people and expanding its design team, so this is a rare chance to join at a point where you can shape how the department works, not just fit into it. You'll work directly with Project Managers, Estimators, Production and Site teams, so you'll see your details being fabricated and installed. If you love solving tricky interfaces and seeing a building come together, you'll feel right at home here.
The Role
You'll lead the technical delivery of several facade projects at once, from design development through to construction. It's a varied role that combines hands-on design, client and consultant coordination, and project leadership. You'll also mentor junior designers and help set the technical standards for the whole department.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of multiple facade projects through design and construction.
- Produce and coordinate full design packages, including elevations, sections, fabrication and installation drawings.
- Develop practical, buildable solutions for curtain walling, glazing, windows and doors.
- Resolve complex interfaces, including structural support, waterproofing, thermal performance and movement.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, structural engineers, contractors and suppliers.
- Attend design meetings, workshops, surveys and site visits.
- Prepare technical specifications, schedules and supporting documentation.
- Mentor junior designers and help develop technical standards across the department.
Requirements
- At least five years' experience in facade, curtain walling or architectural glazing design.
- Strong technical knowledge of aluminium glazing systems, interfaces and construction detailing.
- Experience coordinating design information with architects, consultants and contractors.
- Strong AutoCAD skills and a portfolio of work to show.
- A good understanding of facade construction, structural coordination and buildability.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Full right to work in the UK.
- Immediate availability or a short notice period is a real advantage.
Desirable
- Logikal or similar facade software.
- Knowledge of Schüco, Reynaers, Technal, Senior Architectural Systems or equivalent.
- An Architectural, Architectural Technology or Engineering qualification.
- An understanding of BIM workflows.
- Knowledge of the Building Safety Act, CDM Regulations and Golden Thread principles.
- Experience mentoring others.
Salary & Benefits
- Up to £55,000, depending on experience.
- Negotiable benefits package.
- Hybrid working.
- A clear path towards technical leadership.
- Ongoing CPD, training and mentoring.
- A broad range of facade and glazing projects across London and the South East.
- The chance to help shape a growing design department.
- A supportive, collaborative team.
- Long-term career development in a business that's investing in its future.
If you're an experienced facade designer who wants to lead projects rather than just support them, this is the move. You'll get variety, real responsibility and a visible route to a leadership role. If you're available now, apply today and mention your availability. The team is interviewing straight away, so you could be starting in a matter of weeks.
Ready when you are.
