An international architectural practice is seeking a proactive Regional Technical Leader to support its London and Dublin studios. This is a senior leadership role requiring someone who can work closely with project teams across multiple sectors, acting as both a technical strategist and mentor to ensure design ambitions are delivered through rigorous technical execution and quality control.
Reporting directly to the Office Leaders, Sector Leaders, and Director of Architecture, the role focuses on strengthening technical delivery, supporting project teams through complex construction challenges, and maintaining high standards of compliance, safety, and performance.
Responsibilities
The Regional Technical Leader will oversee the technical delivery of projects, ensuring compliance, quality, and safety are embedded throughout the design and construction process while maintaining a hands-on approach to supporting project teams.
- Proactive Team Engagement: Work closely with studio and project leaders to resolve technical issues in real time and support seamless project delivery.
- Mentorship and Development: Develop staff capabilities and foster a culture of technical excellence across the region.
- Regulatory Expertise: Provide guidance on building regulations and compliance, including CDM, BCAR, BSA, and PSDP, while overseeing specification writing and code compliance.
- Quality Assurance: Lead technical and safety reviews across all project phases to ensure adherence to Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental, and BIM Information Management standards.
- Technical Oversight: Manage delivery of Principal Designer, Assigned Designer, and Assigned Certifier roles across regional projects.
- Innovation: Support advancements in construction technology and sustainable design approaches, ensuring the practice remains aligned with current industry standards and market trends.
Qualifications
Education
- Accredited degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology
Certification
- RIBA or RIAI Chartered Architect or Architectural Technologist (CIAT chartership preferred)
- CSCS, PSDP, IOSH or similar certifications advantageous
Experience
- Minimum 15+ years’ experience in architectural practice with a strong technical and regulatory focus
- Proven experience providing technical leadership on large, complex projects
- Sector experience ideally including aviation, data centres, residential, and commercial
- Experience delivering projects in the UK and/or Ireland, with wider European experience advantageous
- Familiarity with a range of procurement routes
- Strong expertise in health & safety, CDM, and Building Safety Act compliance
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of UK and Irish building regulations and building systems
- Ability to provide clear technical guidance across all RIBA stages
- Strong understanding of constructability and technical detailing
- Experience with specification writing, ideally using NBS Chorus
- Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO19650 standards and compliance processes
- Familiarity with Revit and BIM workflows
- Understanding of LEED, WELL, and BREEAM project requirements
