A leading AJ100 architecture practice based near Fenchurch Street is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join their team. This role will have 3 people reporting to them so proven experience managing a team is essential. Candidates with experience working in the built environment are preferred.
Role & Responsibilities
- Oversee day to day finance operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, banking, and month end processes
- Produce monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial performance reports
- Support project leaders with clear insight into profitability, fee burn, resourcing efficiency, and financial risk
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting cycles
- Maintain financial policies, internal controls, and compliance with UK accounting standards.
- Work with HR and operations on business planning, payroll, and staff related financial processes
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, tax advisers, and banking partners
- Oversee financial systems and data accuracy, ensuring efficient workflows
- Implement process improvements and support digital finance tools
- Provide line management and support to junior finance staff
Requirements
- Experience as a Finance Manager or Senior Accountant within architecture, design, engineering, or professional services
- ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified, or strong QBE experience
- Strong understanding of UK accounting standards, internal controls, and compliance
- Knowledge of project accounting, revenue recognition, WIP, and multi phase fee structures
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
- Ability to translate complex data into clear insights for non finance colleagues
- Highly organised and detail focused, with a proactive approach to improving processes
