As a Part II Architectural Assistant or Architectural Technician at Waldo Works, you'll play an active role across a varied portfolio of residential and commercial projects, from early concept through to delivery on site. Day to day, you can expect to be involved in:
Developing and producing detailed technical drawings, specifications, and construction packages – working closely with the company Directors to develop design proposals. Coordinating with contractors, consultants, and clients, attending site visits and helping to manage the technical resolution of projects. Preparing planning and building regulations submissions, ensuring our work meets all relevant standards and approvals. Supporting project administration, including managing correspondence, schedules, and documentation throughout the construction phase.
We're looking for candidates who bring a combination of design sensibility and technical rigour. The ideal applicant will have:
A Part II qualification in Architecture (RIBA/ARB recognised) or an equivalent qualification as an Architectural Technician. Demonstrable experience working on residential and/or commercial projects in a UK practice, ideally across multiple RIBA stages. Proficiency in Vectorworks would be preferable. A sound understanding of UK planning policy, building regulations, and construction processes. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and consultants. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage your own time and workload effectively. A collaborative, positive attitude and a genuine enthusiasm for design.
If you don't meet all the above but feel you'd still be a great fit for our studio, we'd still love to hear from you – please do get in touch.
Waldo Works is a London-based design studio offering architectural and interior services, established for over 25 years and operating internationally across high-end residential, hospitality, retail, and luxury developments. Known for modern British design, we bring an instinct for unexpected colour and material, underpinned by deep historic and technical building knowledge.
We work with some of the world's most discerning clients – some commercial clients include Selfridges, Smythson of Bond Street, and Fortnum & Mason – and see projects seamlessly from concept through to completion, encompassing architecture, interiors, project management, and FF&E procurement. Our designs are rooted in place and shaped by the rituals of the individual, and our high proportion of returning clients speaks to the relationships we build along the way.
We are a small, close-knit studio where every member of the team plays a meaningful role.
Waldo Works is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive studio.
Joining a small studio means great exposure across all project stages. You’ll work directly alongside the studio's founders and senior team, gaining broad exposure to every stage of the architectural process. We'll support your professional development with our monthly CPD sessions. We foster a studio culture that values craft, curiosity, and a good sense of humour – we work hard, but we enjoy doing it together.
Portfolio Requirements
Please submit a PDF portfolio (max 10MB) alongside your CV and a short cover note. We'd love to see work across multiple project stages, demonstrating both design sensibility and technical ability. Technicians should highlight specification and construction experience prominently.
Our Interview Process
We typically run a two-stage process: an initial in-person interview at our London studio, followed by a second interview – in-person or online – with the director.
