Job Description

An established manufacturer of insulation materials with over 25 years of experience are looking for a Head of Building Physics to support and develop their small, but proactive, technical team.

This ambitious company develops and manufacture insulation products to solve problems in difficult-to-insulate buildings.

They are currently looking for an architect familiar with roof, wall and floor build-ups as well as U-value and condensation risk calculations to join and lead their in-house technical team.

Ideally, you will have a depth of experience in building projects with a particular emphasis on retro-fitting older properties and a fabric first approach and be comfortable working in a small but dynamic environment where initiative and flexibility is expected in a company with a very open culture that encourages innovation.

Due to the nature of this role you will need to be able to travel to their manufacturing plant in Bolton and manage the team from the site. It's more of a hands on position rather than a remote role.

Key Responsibilities

Previous proven experience within the construction industry.
A good knowledge and understanding of building physics.
Previous experience in a leadership role at a management level or above.
Experience of working with research, certification and trade bodies.
Experienced in a leadership role within a technical setting.
Ability to work with customers (internal and external) to develop new products and processes.
Authority to represent us in technical aspects with the wider building / Insulation community, work closely with external bodies and academia to ensure that our products remain at the forefront of research and development.
Provide data sheets, specifications, Health & Safety, and other technical literature.
Ability to undertake and advise upon U-value and condensation risk calculations.
Co-ordinate testing and trials of new products and processes and keep up to date with market developments.
Assist with analysis, specifications, test methods and release queries in the laboratory.
