Hasan's thesis project is situated in Bristol. His mission statement reads: Bristol’s historic docks and trade routes have shaped its economic and cultural foundations, leaving behind legacies of both connection and division, including ties to the transatlantic slave trade. The Cultural Forum aims to create a space that acknowledges this history by bringing together historical artifacts and contemporary narratives for public education, reflection, and dialogue.
The scheme was developed by splitting the program and focusing on a design that aligns with the existing site axes. The smaller building houses a program tailored to community needs, featuring the main reception, workshops and classrooms, and a multi-faith space at the highest level. The larger part of the scheme contains the galleries, exhibition spaces, library, and a restaurant terrace at the top.
At first-floor level, the scheme is unified by a bridge that connects the two educational approaches of the project while maintaining the axis of Queen's Square.
