Elena’s project “Nourishing Roots”, is a retrofit of the Orangery, a Grade II listed building in Wakefield. The proposal focuses on cultivating a thriving community where food serves as a source of nourishment, education, and joy for all. The roof garden not only provides essential urban green space but also acts as a gateway to foster greater local engagement.
Elena Warnakulasuriya is a Part 1 Architecture graduate from the University of Sheffield. During her studies, she worked on a variety of projects across different contexts, ranging from retrofit schemes to polyvalent housing developments. Passionate about people-centered architecture and graphic design, she is eager to make a meaningful contribution to the industry.
