About the Designer
Shakila Karim Rocha is a recent Architecture student at Oxford Brookes University soon to be graduating with a RIBA Part 1 Accreditation
Shakila Karim Rocha’s project envisions a dynamic cultural hub designed to celebrate and unite the creative spirit of the community. This architectural endeavour serves as a central gathering place where local art, history, and collective imagination converge, fostering meaningful engagement among both local residents and visitors.
The building is intentionally inclusive, welcoming individuals from all seven towns of Otmoor. At its core, the design champions the creative community, offering tailored spaces such as an upper-level workshop studio specifically intended for collaborative artistic practices and group work.
Its layout thoughtfully incorporates expansive outdoor communal areas alongside three spacious interior rooms, each dedicated to social interaction and the appreciation of creative expression. The principal components of the structure include a Gallery, Museum, and Café, in addition to flexible studio spaces—each curated to cultivate inspiration.
Serving as a vessel for creativity and innovation, the project not only preserves and showcases artistic heritage but also actively supports the evolving narratives of its community.
