Berlin Community for Nurses by Janet Adekoya proposes a housing community in Berlin shaped by the history of the Berlin Wall and the idea of propinquity.
The project is useful because it links housing to social closeness. Nurses are not treated only as workers who need accommodation, but as people who need community, support and shared everyday space.

Project focus
Janet graduated from De Montfort University, Leicester School of Architecture, with a 2:1. The Berlin Community for Nurses was modelled in Revit and Rhino 3D, then visualised using Vray and Photoshop.
Design ideas to notice
- The project uses the Berlin Wall as more than historical scenery.
- Propinquity gives the housing scheme a clear social idea: closeness, encounter and shared support.
- The nurses brief gives the housing a specific user group with particular daily pressures.
- The software workflow shows Janet can move between modelling, visualisation and presentation.
Portfolio lesson from this project
If a project has a strong social keyword, the drawings need to prove it. Show how shared kitchens, circulation, gardens, thresholds or common rooms make the social idea real.

Showcase a housing community project
If your project is about housing and community, make the daily life of the residents clear.
- Name the residents and their needs.
- Show where people meet and where privacy is protected.
- Connect the concept to real spatial decisions.
