Dara Edmondson’s Hachure Fashion House is a student architecture project about Manchester’s textile history, fashion culture and the creation of a public sanctuary for designers and students.
The project is set around Pomona Island and uses fashion as a way to reconnect with the industrial and creative identity of Manchester.
Project visuals
The project images show how the proposal combines cultural display, public experience and architectural atmosphere.

What the project is about
Hachure Fashion House was developed as a sanctuary that commemorates Manchester’s textile history. It creates a place where fashion designers and students can use a runway for showcases and public events.
Dara is a Manchester School of Architecture graduate with an upper 2:1 and experience as an Architectural Assistant in a small Manchester practice.
Fashion and heritage project checklist
For cultural student projects, make the relationship between programme and place easy to understand.
- What history or industry does the project respond to?
- Who uses the building?
- How does the programme support public life?
- Which drawings show atmosphere, movement and performance?
Architecture Social view
Stephen’s recruiter view is that culture-led projects should not rely only on atmosphere. The stronger version explains why the programme belongs on the site and what the building allows people to do.
Showcase your architecture project
If your project explores culture, fashion, heritage or public space, Architecture Social Showcase can help present it clearly.
- Lead with the project idea.
- Connect the programme to the place.
- Show the strongest drawings or images.
- Explain who the project is for.
If this project has made you rethink your own portfolio or next move, browse current architecture jobs or contact Architecture Social for a recruiter’s view.
