Ami Nigam is Head of Design Technology at Benoy, the global studio of architects, masterplanners and interior designers. Trained as an architect and originally from Mumbai, Ami now describes himself as a technology lead who understands architecture.
After studying architecture and moving internationally, he moved into computational and design technology, eventually building a role that did not previously exist inside a major practice. At Benoy he leads design technology across international teams, spanning parametric design and scripting, BIM, and the development of enterprise AI tools. He works with studios across the business to help them use technology to improve design quality and delivery.
On the Architecture Social Podcast, Ami shares how architecture careers are changing, why BIM, computational design and AI are now core skills rather than side interests, and what students and early career designers should focus on to stay useful as practice evolves.
