Langstaff Day Architects is an architectural and design studio based in London. We are a RIBA chartered practice established in 2015. We specialise in sustainable design that improves well-being. We are a thoughtful, pragmatic and creative team of problem-solvers. We love to explore how people live, learn and play. We offer full architectural services, and can tailor our services to meet our clients’ needs. We help land owners (or prospective land owners) understand the potential of a site and the added value that can be bought to it through a small or mid-sized residential development. We can help with viability studies by quickly appraising the potential built area and arrangements that can fit on a plot; and go on to design and deliver high quality, sustainable homes. We design developments that are appropriate in scale, massing and character in relation to the context. This approach to place-making can help achieve planning permission in sensitive locations. We are interested in re-interpreting traditional typologies in contemporary ways. We can help our clients deliver homes that are inclusive, relevant and desirable for modern life. We are particularly valued for our involvement at the very early stages of a project to help define the right brief, appraise options and set a firm bedrock for the project. Each project has its own story formed through considering the PEOPLE, PLACE and PLANET. PEOPLE: We start with people. Our designs are generated by how we understand people will use the spaces. This can produce solutions that haven’t yet been anticipated. We build in flexibility so the building can adapt and grow, which also gives the project long term value for money. PLACE: We understand a building doesn’t exist in a vacuum, but in a physical and environmental context. It should have a meaningful conversation with its surroundings. This doesn’t mean the architecture needs to blend in – it can be respectful as well as bold and brave. PLANET: We aim to create responsible buildings. Embedded within all our designs is the ambition to make genuinely sustainable, accessible and inclusive projects, and we have in-house expertise to achieve this.
