Founded in 1963, PRP has spent six decades designing buildings that enrich the lives of users and communities. The practice has grown from a residential specialist to a multidisciplinary firm of 514 staff across five offices in London, Manchester, Cardiff, Wroclaw and Sopot. Stated commitment: 'We understand the importance of a diverse workforce at all levels of the practice. Diversity benefits individuals, teams, groups and the organisation as a whole. PRP is committed to creating an inclusive environment.'
Policy scope covers protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010, defining types of discrimination across each.
PRP's stated values, in their own words: 'intelligent, responsive and sustainable solutions, delivered with professionalism and total integrity.'
Underlying principles from the practice:
Context-led design: 'Context and local knowledge form the bedrock of our approach to design. Designs which are welcoming and recognisable to the residents and users of the spaces we create.'
Inside-out approach: 'We design from the inside out, with the end-user in mind.'
Open studios: 'Our studios reflect the structure of the practice, open, accessible and instructive. Leadership works directly alongside their teams.'
Inclusive culture: 'Our inclusive approach ensures everyone, from any background, is supported and developed.'
Climate accountability: 'We never forget our commitment to improving the lives of the communities and people we design for as well as our responsibility towards tackling climate change.'
Formalised commitments include B Corp certification (April 2024), a published Carbon Reduction Plan, and public Equal Opportunities and Diversity & Inclusion Statements.
