Ullmayer Sylvester Architects are a design-led, award-winning architectural studio founded by Silvia Ullmayer and Allan Sylvester. We incorporated in 2005 following our participation in the collaborative custom-build housing project ‘In-Between’ in North London. Since then, we have created fine, handcrafted projects, which have been widely published. The stuff of life makes us hum. We embrace that we are all different: We are all bespoke. We come in different sizes. We have different families. We grow and we grow older. We like different things. So each of us has different expectations of what a home can be. Our studio has designed for many diverse individuals and households and have a wealth of experience in delivering homes for real people- beyond the traditional house and beyond standardised mass housing. Our research can be upscaled and incorporated in urban housing, giving clients more options and making richer, more sustainable homes and places. Not only do we engage in domestic architecture and housing but also work in urban and community contexts to make high quality, beautiful projects and environments. We never see spaces in isolation, but as part of a larger collection of rooms and spaces and set within a wider context. As a studio we question and re-invent typologies with enthusiasm and a sense of optimism. Together with our consultants and contractors we work through every step of the process to deliver cost-effective, distinct and elegant designs uniquely around our clients and their extended ‘families’. We are a women-led and British Caribbean practice and equal opportunity employer. We work closely with our consultants and with our contractors through every step of the design and construction process to deliver both cost effective and elegant designs. Our directors develop each project uniquely around our client and their family, they are at the heart of each project at all times.
